I recced this before, but I have to mention it again here. To be honest, I can understand why people might not like this story. It's told in an unusual POV (third-third person omniscient, present tense), but that's exactly why I love it. It makes me feel like I'm listening to an H/D story being told around a campfire. Where are the marshmallows?
