Goodbye 2010, Hello 2011

Glitterfy.com - New Year Glitter Graphics
Whatever you're doing tonight, I hope you all have fun. And may all your wishes come true in 2011!
I partied too hard last New Year's Eve, so this year I'm hanging out with the family. Which in no way guarantees I won't have too much bubbly...
Anyway, here's a fun writing meme and my resolutions for this year and last.
Total word count: 85,883 for Harry Potter, Merlin, and Infernal Devices (but mostly HP)
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted? Hmm, I don't remember making any predictions, but I think I wrote a lot. I doubled 2009's wordcount.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? Erm… Arthur Merlin and Will/Jem. I honestly didn't expect to get involved in any fandoms other than HP. I'm limiting myself to HP again, though.
What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest? My Hols fic, the title of which I may not yet reveal. :D
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them? THERE ARE NO RISKS IN WRITING!
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year? Although I adore my Hols fic, I have yet to write something about which I can honestly say, "This is my best work. I've thought it through and polished it to the best of my ability." That is definitely something I want to achieve before the H/D fandom… you know… dies. I also want to FINALLY write original fic…
From my past year of writing, what was…
My best story of this year: My Hols fic
My most popular story of this year: This is getting boring… I really like that fic. But, just to add some variety and put down something I can actually name, The Creature Within was also surprisingly popular, considering that it was written in a rush.
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Sheets on Fire and its prequel Sweets on Fire I don't know why they aren't popular. Maybe because part I is a threesome with Ron, or maybe because it's dark!Harry… or maybe because darkfic just isn't my forte. Anyway, I worked harder on these than on most of my other fics, and actually like them.
Most fun story to write: Aside from Hols, I had a blast writing Auror Potter and the Book of Bedtime Tales and The Curious Case of the Missing Ornament
Story with the single sexiest moment: One I can't divulge yet. From Hols. Yes, yes, I know… but I can't even substitute it with anything else I've written this year. NOTHING COMPARES.
Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: I"ll be posting that one tomorrow. There's a certain fetish involved. I don't think anyone will read it…
And, um… there was also that bit of cactus!porn in The Creature Within.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Umm… IDEK?
Hardest story to write: Twisted It wasn't difficult in an "I was blocked" kind of way. I wrote it in little time, but I'd never attempted to write Barty Crouch, Jr. before. He's a twisted (forgive the pun) character, and it's difficult to imagine what's going on inside his head.
Biggest Disappointment: 3 more abandoned WIPs. :( Also, getting kicked off H/D ldws after two weeks.
Biggest Surprise: The response I got for Of Wands and Magic It was a silly little fic written in under half an hour, yet at the time it became my most commented-on fic.
Most Unintentionally Telling Story: Nothing comes to mind right now.
Plans and goals for 2011: I want to finally write that H/D masterpiece that I won't be satisfied leaving fandom without. This probably means that there will be fewer silly 500-2000 word one-shots and more polished fics. I'm limiting my fest participation, but am going to try and make those fics as amazing as I can. I'm already signed up for Remix and Lip-Locked, and will probably sign up for another round of Smoochfest if there is one, and/or Hols. I've considered signing up for H/D Big Bang, but am not sure if I have an idea strong enough for 50k words, or even that I want to write a fic that long. (I'll be working on an original novel this year.)
I love writing for a good cause, so I'll also be participating in any charity auctions there might be in the future.
Last year's meme is here
1. Find a well-paying job: Done! Er... "well-paying" is arguable, but it's more than I've ever made and, considering that many people can't even find work these days, or are forced to work minimum-wage jobs, I think I'm very, very lucky.
2. Get a man: Um, FAIL. Though, honestly, I didn't really want one. I'm having that OMG, I'm 27 and soon all the good ones will be gone crisis, but at the same time I sort of wanted to have time to myself this year.
3. Become better-known in fandom: This sounds silly, but writing is an important part of my life, and I feel that fandom popularity is a kind of measure of my writing ability. And I think I've had some success in this area. My poor flist remains below the 500 mark I'd have liked to achieve, but at a few of my fics this year have had a wonderful response.
4. Write a novel: Again, FAIL.
5. Exercise regularly: I did for the first few months of the year. Then I got a job...
1. Keep my job/get promoted
2. Get a place of my own.
3. Find a man.
4. Write a novel.
5. Exercise and eat healthy!

re: Sheets on Fire and Sweets on Fire
someone was asking for something like that (http://community.livejournal.com/accio_hd_fics/1325976.html) at accio_hd_fics yesterday and I just about died trying to look for it. I didn't know it was yours!
(In my defense I still didn't know you when I first read it)
I was so surprised when
Re: Sheets on Fire and Sweets on Fire
Saw that post, too.
