How does it happen? When you go to a resort, do you get a quick lesson, or are you just directed to the beginners slopes and left to your own devices? Or is there an optional beginners course or something?

*has never been skiing*

either or. You can choose although most have a bunny hill for people to practice on first.

I can tell you what not to do! Do not let your friends convince you that 'skiing is easy' and 'you'll get the hang of it on this intermediate level slope!' Because friends can be filthy, filthy liars.

I wish I had taken a lesson - if only to learn how to fall down in the least damaging way. :(

Luckily, this isn't for me. It's for my fic in progress.

Oh! Well, whew! I think you can take a one-time "skiing for dummies" class - but like I said, I never did. Also, ski-lifts are ridiculously difficult for novices (like me) to get the hang of - not sure if that's helpful at all. :D

Yes, they do have coaches that will help you along if you ask and also they have a little place away from the pro where you can practice if your are a beginner.

Of course, just be careful how you fall or you'll end up braking your pinky like my sister did Lol!
