I was just thinking about some of my old friends, and realized that smut writing began way earlier for me than with fanfic. My last year at middle school and my first year or two at high school, one of my friends and I used to write stories about us with various celebrities we liked. We'd usually work on a story together, each of us taking the notebook for a few days and writing part of the story (neither of us had our own computer at the time). Then we'd have sleepovers and read what the other wrote/ plot together. It was so much fun! Not nearly as much fun as it is now, though, with fanfiction and being able to post it on the internet and get reviews and even make internet friends.

Oh yeah, and since my handwriting is so awful, I once typed out a sex scene from one of those stories on my dad's computer and printed it out. Unfortunately, I forgot to take it out of the printer and my dad found it. My friend was over at the time, and my parents were like "we have to talk to you later" I was soooo mortified and wanted my friend never to leave. Thankfully, they never did say anything about it, but later I found the printed out scene in a drawer. When I found it, I knew what they were saving it for, which my mom confirmed once when she said something about a piece of my writing that they were saving to show me when I got older to embarrass me. But I stole it so ha!

I can just imagine my mom years from now checking every drawer in the house saying, "It must be in here somewhere."

So glad you kept writing, despite being outed by your parents! And in response to your previous post, I'm loving HPDMP, and can't wait for the next installment. And I agree that it's good to remember (at least once in awhile) that fantasy is just that, and shouldn't be taken too seriously. Looking forward to more of your great stories.

Now I'm epsecially careful not to let them find out. I'm old enough to do what I want these days, but it would still be horribly embarrassing!
